2024 Move to Cure ALS - Richmond-Vancouver

Team Bob

Our Story:

In 2013, Bob Sidhu was diagnosed with ALS, which was unexpected and devastating not only for him but also his family and friends. Overtime, his muscles weakened and he slowly began to lose his ability to move and speak. This came with challenges to complete daily activities and social interactions that come easily to a lot of us. Eating, showering, and even just getting rid of a simple itch, were all things he needed someone to assist with. Sadly, three years later at the age of 49, he passed away. Now we hope to help others who are impacted by this neurological disease by participating in The Move to Cure ALS where funds go towards care programs and supplies, like wheelchairs, and research.

The Larger Impact:

The Move to Cure ALS is the signature fundraising event for the ALS Society of British Columbia, which brings together family and friends in support of ALS. People come together to “Move”; be it walking, running, rolling, supporting or being present. Funds raised go to support people living with ALS in BC and the Yukon, and to support research through PROJECT HOPE.

The Move to Cure ALS is a fun, family-friendly way to celebrate hope for a future without ALS, honor those we have loved and lost, and show support for Canadians and their families living with the disease.

Our goal is to end ALS through creating a world class ALS Centre at UBC. 100% of the proceeds from the Move to Cure ALS will remain in BC to support patient services programs (60%) and research (40%) through PROJECT HOPE.

In 2023, events across the province will be taking place! Join us virtually or in person to help move towards a cure for ALS. We’re all in this together, because ALS doesn’t stop, and neither will we.
