Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Move to Cure ALS?
The Move to Cure ALS is the same walk you know and love, however 100% of the Profits will remain here in British Columbia to support patient service programs and research through PROJECT HOPE. The Move to Cure ALS is the signature fundraising event for the ALS Society of British Columbia, which brings together family and friends in support of ALS. People come together to “Move”; be it walking, running, rolling, supporting or being present. Funds raised go to support people living with ALS in BC and the Yukon, and to support research through PROJECT HOPE.

Are the in-person Move to Cure ALS events happening this year?
In light of the evolving situation with COVID-19, we’re transitioning all of the events across the province back to in-person walks providing provincial health guidelines allow. That’s right – the Move to Cure ALS will be held in person and we need your continued support. We are all in this together and your support is needed now more than ever as we navigate the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions for in-person events for the same walk you know and love.

How do I get a t-shirt?
T-shirts will be distributed when you arrive at the event location at the registration table.

Many of my friends and family want to donate but they are experiencing financial difficulties because of COVID-19. Why is June the best time to do this?
If your family and friends are not able to donate this year, they can do their part in raising awareness by sharing our posts on social media or telling their network about this cause. June is ALS Awarness month, we will be moving during the month of June to raise awareness and funds for people living with ALS. More than ever, it is important to show up for the ALS community because they are feeling afraid and alone. We will have a unified voice for the ALS community, and they can help to amplify our message.
