Friends In Deed Campaign

Commemorating AIDS Project Los Angeles
30 Years of Service

Founded in 1983, AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA) has been providing life-saving services and connections to care for people living with HIV/AIDS for 30 years. As we commemorate our 30th year of service, we invite you to participate in our Friends in Deed Campaign.

What is the Friends In Deed Campaign? The Friends in Deed Campaign is designed to recognize APLA’s three decades of services to our community while raising critical funds for people living with HIV/AIDS in Los Angeles County. Our goal is to raise $300,000 in 2013, and you are invited to become a Friend in Deed to honor someone (including yourself) or to remember someone you have lost to AIDS.

A Friends In Deed Campaign donor wall will be installed at APLA headquarters, The David Geffen Center, and will include honor and memorial plaques for all donations of $1,000 or more.

Why do we need a Friends In Deed Campaign? Since its beginning, APLA has relied on government and private funding to serve the thousands of clients who come to us every year, most of whom don’t have the resources needed to live healthy and productive lives. As government funding becomes less reliable, we want to ensure that no one is turned away due to a lack of funds. The Friends In Deed Campaign will help provide unrestricted funds to help those who have nowhere else to turn.

How can I/we participate in the Friends In Deed Campaign? For every $1,000 donation you make to the Friends in Deed Campaign, a plaque will be installed on our Friends In Deed donor wall with your name or with the name of someone you would like to honor or memorialize.

In addition, we will be creating a Friends In Deed donor wall on our web site at apla.org, and your virtual “plaque” will be displayed on our web-based wall. For your convenience, pledges can be paid in installments.

A lower donation option is also available for the web-based donor wall only. For each $250 donation, a “plaque” will be reserved for you on our virtual donor wall, again with your name or with the name of someone you would like to remember. Donations of $250 will not receive an engraved plaque on our donor wall at The David Geffen Center.

We also have a limited number of room naming opportunities available at various APLA locations, starting at $5,000. This is a wonderful way to recognize in perpetuity your support of APLA and to honor or memorialize someone very special to you. Contact Bart Verry at 213.201.1525 or bverry@apla.org for more information.
