UPSers Against Cancer - My Personal Story
Ready, Set, RACE! I will be participating in the Avera Race Against Cancer. I am excited to be joining thousands of supporters coming together to raise awareness and funds to benefit cancer patients and their families in our community.
Did you know that Colon Cancer is the second leading cause of death by cancer?
I didn't either.
I learned the hard way... here is my story.
I lost my husband Scott on 11-11-16 due to Early Onset Colon Cancer. Scott was the primary owner/operator of Cartridge World here in Sioux Falls, along with being an avid outdoorsman. Scott and I had a daughter Julia, and our son Jared. Both the kids and I lost a very special person in our lives. In honor of Scott we are still operating Cartridge World and I started the Scott Bauer Foundation.
The Scott Bauer Foundation works very closely with Avera to provide FIT kits (at home colon cancer test), mailing of the FIT kits, and the testing of all returned FIT kits to Avera. There is no cost to any person. The Scott Bauer Foundation covers all costs association with the in home testing process. Avera's Navigation Center tracks all results, and contacts any affected person to encourage them to reach out to their primary physician, or set that individual up with a primary physician.
I can help you if you have questions. Don't become "a story".
I do not want to see another family watch a loved one pass away due to Colon Cancer. This cancer is completely preventable with early testing. If you do not get tested for yourself, get tested for your family!
