Avera Race Teams are an excellent way for individuals/businesses to participate in the state's largest cancer race while fostering tradition, creating memories, boosting employee morale and team-building skills all while showing your community YOU care!

The Avera Cancer Institute continues to be the leader in cancer care in our community with the most trusted source for cancer information. By joining the Avera Race Against Cancer, you will partner with a leader in the fight against cancer. Since 1989, the Avera Race has donated over $7 million dollars to cancer programs and services. The Avera Race takes pride in funding innovative research, advanced technology and enhanced patient services such as integrative medicine.
Money raised through proceeds from cancer awareness events such as the Avera Race have funded the following programs and services:

- Cancer Support Groups
- Comprehensive Wig Program at Care Store Salon
- Integrative Medicine Program
- Educational Materials and Classes
- Patient Navigation
Steps For Team Registration
- You may register your team by clicking the "Register" and "Form a Team" buttons.
- If you create a new team, you will be the team captain.
- Recruit team members. (NOTE: Ten registered participants are required to qualify as a team. If your team does not have ten registered participants by Monday, April 18, the team will be registered as individuals).
- Challenge team members to go the next step and create their own online fundraising page with their registration.
- Be creative with your team; design shirts, make signs and have fun!
- Team registration is due by Sunday, April 17 at 5:00 p.m.
Sideline Supporter

Race at your own pace and become a Sideline Supporter." Join thousands of community supporters and work towards your own "virtual finish line" together, helping local cancer patients and families along the way. Simply select "Sideline Supporter" as your race and receive an official Avera Race t-shirt and give-aways.
Packet Pick-Ups
All registered participants are required to pick up their packets on the dates below based upon their registration type. Team and individual packet pick-ups will take place at the Avera McKennan Fitness Center during the times listed below:
NOTE: Timing chips for runners are included in all packets. Any late team packets will be available during individual packet pick-up. Due to large volumes, packets will not be mailed out or delivered. If you are unable to attend one of the packet pick-up times, please make other arrangements. Packets not picked up before Friday, May 17 will be donated to the Avera Cancer Institute.
- The first 5,000 registrants will receive a journal, towel and unisex long-sleeve loose fit performance t-shirt.
- To ensure all registered participants receive their selected size, substitutions may only be made AFTER the race or the following week.

Individual Packet Pick-Up
- Thursday, May 5 3:30 - 6:30 p.m.
- Friday, May 6 7:00 a.m. - 6:15 p.m.
Team Packet Pick-Up
- Thursday, April 28 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.
- Friday, April 29 6:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
- Saturday, April 30 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
- Sunday, May 1 10:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
- Monday, May 2 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Transportation
Shuttle Buses
- Complimentary shuttle buses run from the parking lots at Embrace Church (57th Street Campus) and Sioux Falls Christian School.
- Buses run in 15 minute increments from 6 - 10 a.m. (the last pre-race shuttle will leave at 7:15 a.m.).
- Drop off/pick up located at Shalom Christian Reformed Church.
Survivor Parking
- Limited survivor parking is available in the Avera McKennan Fitness Center and Shalom Christian Reformed Church parking lots.
- Gain access by wearing your cancer survivor shirt included in your race packet.
NOTE: When parking in residential and business areas, be aware of city parking laws. Be courteous to our neighbors and avoid blocking driveways.
Participant Parking
- Plan to arrive 30 to 60 minutes early to allow adequate time.
- Participant parking is available in surrounding residential areas.
NOTE: Please do not park in the Avera McKennan Fitness Center parking lot. When parking in residential and business areas, be aware of city parking laws. Be courteous to our neighbors and avoid blocking driveways.
Volunteer Parking
- Volunteer parking is available at Lions Centennial Park, behind the Four Hills Shopping Mall and Shalom Christian Reformed Church.

Race Day Schedule - Saturday, May 7

- 6:00 am - Shuttle buses begin
- 7:00 am - Avera Race Expo and Survivor Pavilion opens
- 7:15 am - Survivor group photo
- 7:40 am - Song tribute to all survivors
- 7:45 am - Warm-up with Jackie
- 8:00 am - Race begins

- 10K race begins
- Breakfast buffet opens
- 8:15 am - 5K race begins
- 8:20 am - 1.5 and 3 mile walks begin

Post Race
- Participants, volunteers, sponsors and Sideline Supporters are welcome to stay after the race and enjoy the Avera Race Expo and complimentary breakfast buffet. Note that the Survivor Pavilion is open to ALL cancer survivors and their families.
- Race results will be posted online after the race at AveraRaceSiouxFalls.org.
- Runner awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in both 5K and 10K races receive a gift card donated by the Great Outdoor Store.
Bring Your Family and Friends
Everyone can participate in the Avera Race Against Cancer. The aerobic warm-up, fun walks, expo area and cool-down breakfast are all designed for family fun.
