Hello dears,
as all of you know, I don’t get a lot of ’spare’ time. For 2016, I decided to invest most of it training for my first Triathlon race, to raise funds for charity. I’d really love to enjoy your support towards this goal.
In exactly 2 weeks, I will participate in the Escape from Alcatraz in San Francisco, one of the coolest and most famous races in the world, together with 1500 other people.
Why am I doing this?
I’m part of Team Cindy, which raises awareness and funds for The Brain Aneurysm Foundation. Cindy's parents founded Team Cindy (https://www.teamcindy.org/) to honor the life their daughter, who lost her life at my same age due to a sudden, ruptured brain aneurysm while training for her first Ironman. I witnessed this firsthand, when years ago I lost a dear friend to an undiagnosed condition, while running together on a hot day this time of the year. That’s why I’m so committed to raise funds for research.
Working towards a mental and physical challenge is extremely fullfilling, when your passion can benefit a great cause and honor a friend who is not here anymore.
This race certainly is a challenge. The menu includes:
- 3 km swim from Alcatraz Island in the San Francisco Bay with 12*C water
- 1.3 km warm up run
- 30 km bike ride with 400m elevation, climbing along some great views of SF
- 13 km hilly run with 200m elevation, around the Golden Gate headlands
It should be pretty epic, and I should still be able to smile afterwards :)
What can you do to support?
You can click on Donate Now to contribute.
Every dollar you would contribute will count twice. In fact, I pledge to match every contribution raised during this campaign.
It will be open for the next 2 weeks, and I’ll be very very grateful for any support you’ll be willing to share.
Thanks!!
Matteo
