I'm swimming for mental health!
Swimming helped me get through a tough time last winter. I vividly remember feeling like my nervous system was shot and needing some relief. Swimming helped me feel OK. Buzzards Bay was my first open water swim back in 2015. I went way too hard and ended up floating on my back at one point, in the middle of open water, just trying to catch my breath. This race is about going outside of my comfort zone, letting go of fear and doing hard things. I'm certainly outside of my comfort zone these days, trying to do a lot of hard things for my girls, Sophie (almost 6) and Lily (4). Buzzards Bay is a good cause and I imagine my girls waiting for me on the other side of the beach excited about it all and proud of me for doing it. You can support the Buzzards Bay Coalition and me by donating. I'll be swimming the 1.2 miles across outer New Bedford Harbor with hundreds of others as we raise funds for and awareness of the need to protect clean water in our community. Buzzards Bay Coalition does important work across conservation, research, advocacy, and education. Any amount - big or small - truly makes a difference in helping to protect clean water for today, and for future generations.
Thank you for your support!
If you prefer not to donate online, you can fill out this form and return it along with your payment to the Buzzards Bay Coalition, 114 Front Street, New Bedford, MA 02740. If you're sending a check, please make sure the swimmer's name is written on the check.
