Help Me Support Big Brothers Big Sisters!
Donate Today to Empower Potential!
Hi friends -
Potential is everywhere. We don’t have to create it — we just have to defend it. Over the past 16 years, I've had the privilege of mentoring multiple young men, as a part of being a Big Brother and a Big Couple. It's a program where I've seen boys grow into young men that make good decisions, have their ethics tested, and grow through it because of people that believe in them.
I'm in my second year of serving as the co-chair of the organziation's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Board. During this pandemic, many of our Littles have felt isolated from their support system, with school being adjusted and a long stretch without mentoring visits. We've worked to provide distance engagement sessions - a new career series, interviewing elite professionals about their work and being mentored. I've loved organizing and moderating these, to benefit our future leaders.
Will you consider a donation to support youth mentoring efforts? Any amount helps.
A few stats:
- When matched with a Big, 99% of Little Brothers and Sisters in Kansas City graduate high school on-time, and 84% report improved self-esteem.
- Right now, there are over 300 Littles waiting for a Big. I’m working to reach my fundraising goal so these kids can be matched with a positive, caring mentor.
- The BBBSKC program is free to Littles and their families, but it costs $1,500 to support a match for a year, and $250 to recruit each new Big.
