I'm excited to be participating in this year’s Summer Bowl for Kids’ Sake event that benefits Big Brothers Big Sisters Kansas City (BBBSKC)!  I've been a Big to 2 Littles over 9 years, and am currently matched with Destinee.  

It's WIN-WIN being able to pour into the life of a young person and them pouring into mine.  I've also seen firsthand how the agency impacts families, not only through creating matches, but also helping with household needs, providing counseling and education to families. 

BBBSKC focuses on the children and teens that need us the most, which includes those from one-guardian households, children that are dealing with the death or illness of a close family member, are living with relatives, whose parent is deployed, are living in foster care and are growing up with an incarcerated parent or sibling to name a few.  They match these children with a caring, adult mentor in the BBBSKC program who stands with them to help them reach their full potential. 

When Matched with a Big:

• 71% of Kansas City Littles improve their grades 
• 87% of Littles say they have higher self-esteem
• 97% believe their Big has a positive impact
• Again this year, 100% of Littles in their senior year of high school graduated
