My Bladder Cancer Story
Facebook Family and Friends... In April 2023 I was diagnosed with a high grade bladder carcinoma. Fortunately, my cancer was discovered at Stage 1. I spent the majority of 2023 having several TURBT bladder surgeries and BCG chemo treatments to stop the cancer growth.
By November 2023 my bladder cancer had continued to increase and my Surgeon informed me that my treatments were not working as planned. My options were continue treatments and risk metastasis, or have my bladder removed. In December 2023 I made a decision to have bladder removal surgery. I now have a Urostomy that replaces my bladder. The good news is that my post surgery biopy and CT scan indicate that I am now cancer free. Yay!!
I am still adjusting to my "new normal" body function, but I am feeling pretty good and moving forward with my life. I am sharing my personal story to increase bladder cancer awareness and also make myself available as a resource for anyone else who may happen to get this diagnosis. Please feel free to contact me.
I'm actively raising funds for a profoundly important cause — to stand with those affected by bladder cancer and support the mission of the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network (BCAN). BCAN is the nation's primary advocacy organization dedicated to advancing bladder cancer research and providing crucial assistance to those facing this challenging illness.
I warmly invite you to consider making a meaningful, tax-deductible donation to the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network. Your generous support will empower BCAN to raise public awareness and secure increased funding for vital research aimed at discovering a cure for bladder cancer.
Please understand that your donation will directly impact BCAN's ability to reach more individuals dealing with this disease, ultimately making a substantial difference in saving lives. Thank you for your thoughtful consideration.
