Dog and Cat Image Legislative Alert

Ask your legislators to support funding for spay/neuter.

A new bill in the House of Delegates, HB 2552, would provide funding for West Virginia’s statewide spay/neuter assistance fund. These funds are desperately needed to help reduce the number of homeless dogs and cats killed in our state’s shelters.

HB 2552 has strong bipartisan support, a clear indication that saving pets’ lives cuts across party lines; however, there is also a well-funded, organized movement underway to defeat this bill.

In fact, the special interests will do all they can to make sure that HB 2552 isn’t signed into law. Thankfully, the one thing they can’t stop is your voice, which is exactly what we need today.

Please take action now. Contact your state senator and delegate, and urge them to support HB 2552 with a “yes” vote  to support the humane reduction of the homeless pet population in our state.

Don’t stop there! Once you have sent your own message, please share this action alert on Facebook, Twitter and your other social media platforms. The more of us that speak up for homeless pets, the better our chance of success in passing this valuable legislation will be.

Dear [Decision Maker],

As a constituent, I urge you to support House Bill 2552 to help fund the statewide spay/neuter program for dogs and cats. This lifesaving legislation has strong bipartisan support, which speaks volumes about our state's commitment to reducing the number of homeless cats and dogs in our shelters.

This is a great opportunity to provide a much-needed service and to save our state money. HB 2552 will save lives and help us reduce the number of homeless pets on our streets and in our shelters. Thank you for your consideration.
