Painting Class

Enjoy painting? Learn the basics of acrylic painting and leave with a Fair-themed work of art.

Join the Blue Ribbon Foundation for the ultimate social painting class at the Iowa State Fair and help ensure a colorful future for the Fair. All proceeds from the painting class are dedicated to Our Fair’s Future, the Blue Ribbon Foundation’s endowment fund. As the endowment grows, it will provide a reliable source of funding for future renovation and maintenance improvements to the fairgrounds ensuring the Fair will be a grand tradition for generations to come.

Price $35: Includes canvas, paints, brushes and 1 ½ hours of instruction to paint a picture featuring an aspect of the Iowa State Fair. The class is being taught by Missy Pieters, owner and artist at Messy Missy’s Painting Studio & Gallery in Marshalltown.

Class times: Daily 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. No class on Tuesday, August 13 and the mornings of Sunday, August 11 or Sunday, August 18. A 6:00 pm class is offered on August 10, August 11, August 15, and August 16.                

On-site class registration is available ½ hour before the class starts. Space for up to 50 painters at each class. (By completely the online registration below, your spot will be reserved.)
