This year as part of Team BMC, I will be running the 2020 B.A.A. Distance Medley in support of BMC's Grayken Center for Addiction, which is committed to using innovative, nationally-recognized services to make long-term recovery a reality for patients and families affected by addiction. Money raised from this fundraiser will go to the Grayken Center to support BMC's addiction services for patients. There are two particular programs that are supported by Grayken Center's work that I would like to highlight. At Boston Medical Center, I have had the pleasure of assisting in the coordination of patient care with 2 patient support services that I strongly support: SOFAR Clinic and CATALYST Clinic.

SOFAR (Supporting Our Families through Addiction and Recovery) clinic is a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurse practitioners, patient care navigators, and social workers who coordinate medical and psychosocial care for families to assist them in successfully balancing parenting and substance use recovery. SOFAR provides primary care services, social work support, and early intervention services for infants. They also provide ongoing support for parents in various stages of recovery, including coordinating their substance use care with clinics such as CATALYST.

CATALYST (Center for Addiction Treatment for AdoLescent/Young adults who use SubsTances) is a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, social workers, and community outreach navigators who work with teens and young adults struggling with addiction. They provide primary care and behavioral health services and counseling support to patients and their families. They also work with patient's health care teams across BMC to coordinate quality care and ensure that their patients are well-supported not just in their recovery, but overall health goals as well.
