My name is Beth Dankert. I have brain cancer (oligodendroglioma Grade II). I was diagnosed and had surgery in 2016. Brain cancer is incurable. As brain cancers go, I have a longer prognosis than most. I am told that the cancer will return in 7 years at which point I will likely undergo more surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, which will result in the loss of some brain function. This is a scary reality that I try to come to terms with each day. For myself, for those who care about me, and for all my fellow cancer patients and those who love them – we need a cure. I am walking in the Montreal Brain Tumour walk on June 9, to raise money for the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada. This foundation helps to fund research on brain tumours and provides support services for patients.
