2 years ago, the Burtenshaw family unexpectedly became part of the brain tumour community. Now, we're part of the movement to end brain tumours and we hope you'll support us in this Canada-wide effort to put a stop to this disease.
In January 2018, our dear Barb received a very unexpected diagnosis of a brain tumour - grade 3 oligodendroglioma, a rare tumour that makes up only about 3% of all brain tumours. There were just 4 days between diagnosis and surgery, which was then followed by radiation and chemotherapy.
Since then, The Brain Tumour Foundation has become a wonderful support for our family, through their research, welath of information and most importantly, their virtual and local support groups. We only wish we had learned about them on day one instead of six months into our journey.
By joining and/or donating Team Barb for the Hamilton-Niagara Brain Tumour Walk, you're joining the fight to end brain tumours and helping provide the essential information and support that every person diagnosed, and their family, deserves.
All money raised through Brain Tumour Walk events strengthens the national movement to end this life-changing disease and brings hope to individuals and families across the country:
- Hope for progress in discovering the cause of brain tumours.
- Hope for better treatments for every child and adult diagnosed.
- And most of all, the hope for a cure.
Anybody is welcome to join us for the walk to show your support in person, and we welcome any and all donations towards this important cause. Thank you for supporting Team Barb, and more importantly, for helping the 55,000 Canadians who live with a brain tumour today.
