Head to the Hill Scholarship Fund
Every year, more than 300 brain tumor patients, care partners, family members, researchers, and clinicians attend Head to the Hill, the National Brain Tumor Society’s signature advocacy event. This three-day event is held every May during Brain Tumor Awareness Month, and is a critical part of our Head for Hope Weekend.
Head to the Hill represents a powerful opportunity for brain tumor advocates to share their stories while helping policymakers better understand the critical and urgent needs of the brain tumor community. This year, our goal is to welcome a record number of advocates from across the country and we need your help!
Head to the Hill represents a powerful opportunity for the brain tumor community to unite, but high medical costs often create a financial strain for patients and families, making travel to Washington, DC unaffordable. Philanthropic support is critical to ensuring that all advocates are able to attend, regardless of their financial circumstances.
Here is what past recipients and a donor had to say about the Head to the Hill Scholarship Fund:
“As a newlywed traveling across the country from the great state of Montana, I didn't have the funds to make it to D.C. without a scholarship. I left (Head to the Hill) with a new support group by learning from both fellow survivors and their family's stories. Brain tumors aren't going anywhere unless we continue to raise our voices and show up in numbers.”
- Scott Mylnechuk, Montana advocate
“Attending Head to the Hill last year, by far, was the most profound experience I’ve had as a brain tumor survivor and none of it would’ve been possible had I not been the recipient of a scholarship from NBTS. To serve as a delegate & share my story with our congressional leaders alongside other patients, survivors and their loved ones, advocating for the entire brain tumor community, was life-changing.”
- Billi Ewing, OH advocate
“As a first-time attendee at the 2019 NBTS Head to the Hill, I was moved to make the inaugural donation to the NBTS Head to the Hill Scholarship Fund. Realizing that traveling to Washington, DC can be expensive, I wanted to provide the opportunity for someone who might not be able to afford the cost to be there and tell their story to our Senators and Representatives.”
- Alan Morasch, Scholarship Fund Donor
With your support the Head to the Hill Scholarship Fund will enable more brain tumor advocates to participate in this powerful civic experience, and better represent the entire U.S. brain tumor community.
