New Progress Report Released from Defeat GBM Research Collaborative

When we launched the Defeat GBM Research Collaborative as our flagship research initiative in 2014, we did so with patients and families at the forefront of our vision. Like you, we were frustrated by the slow pace of translating promising research discoveries into clinical trials for patients. We made a $10 million commitment to our team of world-class Defeat GBM researchers to foster an innovative, unconventional initiative aimed at speeding progress against glioblastoma.

This month, NBTS shared a new progress report from this ambitious project. Research described in the report has created a foundation that will soon serve as the next generation of treatment development initiatives within NBTS’s Defeat Brain Tumors Program, thanks in large part to the generous support of our donors and fundraisers, as well as the dedication of the researchers and advisors who have helped advance this game-changing initiative.

Join the Next Brain Tumor Support Conversation – March 15th

After Valentine's Day, we had an open conversation about what "love" looks like in healthcare. Join us Sunday, 3/15 at 7 PM ET, for our next monthly conversation. Facilitated by volunteers Adam Hayden and Lisa O'Leary, these discussions provide a welcoming space where patients and loved ones can talk about the feelings and emotions that accompany any aspect of the brain tumor experience.

Sponsor an Advocate to Attend Head to the Hill & Let Their Voice be Heard

Every year, more than 300 brain tumor patients, care partners, family members, researchers, and clinicians attend Head to the Hill, the National Brain Tumor Society’s signature advocacy event during May's Brain Tumor Awareness Month. Head to the Hill represents a powerful opportunity for brain tumor advocates to share their stories, while helping policymakers better understand the critical and urgent needs of the brain tumor community.

This year, our goal is to welcome a record number of advocates from across the country and we need your help! Philanthropic support is critical to ensuring that all advocates are able to attend, regardless of their financial circumstances. With your support, the Head to the Hill Scholarship Fund will enable more brain tumor advocates to participate in this powerful civic experience, and better represent the entire U.S. brain tumor community.

Glioblastoma Models Get Boost From Cutting-Edge Tech

Laboratory models are a backbone of cancer research and essential for the development and testing of promising treatments. Now, funding through NBTS’s Defeat GBM Research Collaborative has led to the creation of new, state-of-the-art tumor models that could be the closest replica of human glioblastoma (GBM) tumors generated to date.
