Welcome to My Personal Page
On July 19, 2016, world was about to turn upside down. That was when I learned that I had some type of brain tumor. With my incredible support system of my husband, family, and friends, I knew I was going to get through this challenge. I have an amazing team of doctor's starting with my neurosurgeon, Dr. Mickey. We came up with a plan and by August 15, I had an awake craniotomy. It felt very empowering to be able to contribute during the surgery! Turns out, I have an anaplastic oligodendroglioma and we were able to remove about 90% of it.
The great thing about my type of tumor is that there have been advancements made in the course of further treatment. Since the surgery, my awesome oncologist, Dr. Maher, has been monitoring the activity/inactivity of my tumor to determine just the right time to perform additional treatment. This is new technology that wouldn't have been possible without funding from research grants. But more still needs to be done. We need to find a cure.
I am uniting with my friend and co-worker, Brandi who has 11 more years of experience in battling this exact same type of tumor. Her support has been priceless to me and now I want to pay it forward to anyone else who is currently or may experience this battle in the future. I am passionate about this cause, so I’m taking action. I need your help in this fight. National Brain Tumor Society will not rest until a cure exists - but more needs to be done. Please join in my effort!
