Central New Jersey Brain Tumor Walk

Mercedes' Squad

My name is Shay and I have put this team, Mercedes' Squad, together for one reason, my grandmother. Those who know me, know exactly why I am doing this. For those who do not, here's the "WHY" in a few condensed sentences:

My grandma was diagnosed with glioblastoma (GBM), which is a Grade 4 tumor that is very agrressive over 9 years ago. Difficult to treat and curing it was not a possibility, she underwent brain surgery to remove as much of the tumor as possible. Treatment followed to slow the progression of the cancer and reduce the size of what remained, but it eventually all came to a stop and her last day with us January 19, 2012.

In remembrance of her and her fight, I have put this team together to bring awareness to those around me about Brain Tumors. Any donations of any size would be deeply appreciated and if you can come out to join my family and I on May 11th, that would be amazing as well! Those looking to join in on celebrating my birthday (May 9) can do so by donating or coming out for the Walk. I really hope to see some, if not all of you there with me. Thank you in advance.

- Shay
