Tara's Tumornators

Welcome to Tara's Tumornators!!!!

In January 2010 I got news that changed my life and my families life forever. I finally found out why I was tired all the time, & why I felt sick all of the time. I was diagnosed with a brain tumor, a pituitary macroadenoma. After three long years of medications, endless MRI's & bloodwork and what felt like every day being in a doctors office, I had an MRI to determine weather I needed to have brain surgery. I had an MRI in March of 2013 that showed a discouraging result, the medication I had been suffering through to take every week for a whole year had not shrunk my tumor. I despised taking the medication as it made me horribly sick every single time. When I got the results that my tumor had not shrunk as what the medication was supposed to do, I refused anymore of the medication and seeked a neurosurgeon. I met with 4 neurosurgeons before I found Shabbar Danish out of Robert Wood Johnson in New Brunswick. As soon as I spoke with Dr. Danish, I knew I was going to have him do my surgery. His bedside manner was amazing as well as his explination of every step of the surgery. My original goal of meeting with Dr. Danish and having him perform gamma knife, a non invasive surgery, was shot down very quickly. Dr. Danish explained to me how big my tumor was and it was continuting to grow and I needed to get it out! I cried on the car ride home, having questioning how did this actually happen to me. How I am leaving this doctors office with the gut feeling of having to schedule BRAIN SURGERY! well a few weeks after my visit with Dr. Danish I scheduled my Brain Surgery for May 2nd 2013. I had my 5 hour brain surgery performed flawlessly. I recovered amazingly and in May 2017 will make me four years brain tumor free. I go regulary for bloodwork and MRI's and had a scare in May of 2016 when I went for my three year check up. Thankfully all of the prayers worked and my follow ups are still showing clear! Ever since I was diagnosed with a brain tumor and realized this CAN happen to you, I have dedicated myself to helping find a cure for these ugly beasts. To inspire people who have had a brain tumor and to help find a cure for those who weren’t as fortunate as I was.

Every dollar you donate helps us become one step closer to finding a cure.I am uniting with others to make a difference in the fight against brain tumors. I am passionate about this cause, so I’m taking action. I need your help in this fight. National Brain Tumor Society will not rest until a cure exists - but more needs to be done. Please join in my effort!
