New York City Brain Tumor Walk

Team Granny

TEAM GRANNY IS BACK!!!!  On Sunday, June 9th we will once again be participating in the NYC Brain Tumor walk.  We are walking in memory of two beloved family members, Madelaine Furst and her father John Marshall.  Johnny Marshall passed away in 1957 at the age of 41 (Madelaine was 13 years old).  Because it happened over 50 years ago there were not any specific details on the location or type of brain tumor he had.  Madelaine was diagnosed in 2008 at the age of 64 with a glioblastoma multiforme (GBM).  She passed away May 2011 after a two and a half year battle.

Last year we had about 25 people on our team for the 9th annual NYC brain tumor walk.  We chose the name TEAM GRANNY in honor of the wonderful woman who wore that name so well and did things so willingly for her 10 grandchildren.  Madelaine was given a nickname by her father when she was a little girl, so many friends and all of her family called her Bunny.  Our group wore bright orange shirts designed with bunnies, bunny ears and we all hopped across the finish line together!  It was a beautiful day at Randall’s Island.  Through the generosity of many of you we raised over $38,000!!! If you are able to donate to this years walk we would be very appreciative.  Thank you for your generosity and kindness always.
