"We Walk So Other Kids Can Meet Their Grandpa"

ELEVEN YEARS AND COUNTING...  It's hard to believe it's been a little over a decade since we lost William "Winky" Bennett (Dad to David, Grandpa to Norah) to a relentless brain tumor in August of 2007.  This year Team Winky is celebrating 11 years of raising awareness of this devastating diagnosis. Each year, we've been honored to join the thousands of other families and survivors who've also fought this battle together with the National Brain Tumor Society.

Team Winky will again (did I mention 11 YEARS!!) proudly be hitting the pavement in our Nation's Capital for the Race for Hope - DC on May 5th. Race For Hope DC raises funds to support innovative research initiatives and support services for brain tumor patients and their families. This amazing event relies on the dedication and enthusiasm of individuals, families, teams, volunteers, sponsors and donors. Proceeds benefit the National Brain Tumor Society and Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure.

Over the years we've walked in sweltering heat, pouring rain, when Skye was 7 months pregnant, pushing a stroller, and pulling a wagon.  Each year has been more rewarding and inspiring than the year before because the group of survivors keeps getting bigger and bigger.  We look forward to a first Sunday in May that we won't be walking because that will mean a cure has finally been found.
