On the 2nd anniversary of the passing of my best friend and husband, Mike, I’m again joining in the Race for Hope-DC, as part of David Cook's Team for a Cure. Although Mike's final months and days were difficult, we were blessed with so many good days, months, and years--more than we could ever have imagined following his initial brain tumor diagnosis and treatment in 1997. Time to make memories for a lifetime—birthdays, graduations, weddings, anniversaries, volunteer activities, family trips, hikes, playtime with grandchildren, and much more.

 All this was possible due to the excellent treatment Mike received that first year and, again, when his brain cancer recurred in 2016. Our family's hope is that many more brain tumor patients would experience similar quality time through the work of the National Brain Tumor Society and its mission “... to discover a cure, deliver effective treatments, and advocate for patients and care partners."
