Welcome to My Personal Page
This year, unfortunately, I walk for two people dear to me who have died of brain cancer.
Just weeks before becoming a grandfather for the third time , my brother-in-law Sheldon was diagnosed with a brain tumor. To honor Sheldon's strength and "fight" his three children (Rivka, Shuli and Elie) and their spouses (Michael and Marc) organized Team Sheldon's Shteibel.
For almost 3 years Sheldon fought for his life with a positive attitude. He hoped that his participation in clinical trials would lead to a cure for brain cancer, if not for him, than those that would unfortunately come after.
Just this past year a dear friend and social worker Janice Hawkins also died of this terrible disease. Her brain tumor was diagnosed almost 8 years after my brother-in-law's and yet there was little to help her either. Janice was a strong support to me during Sheldon's illness and to fall to the same illness is so difficult to comprehend. Brain cancer strikes children and adults in the prime of their life. We must find a cure!
Please join me in showing support to my sister Ann and the rest of Sheldon's family. Ann and her kids and grandkids are a source of inspiration to us . Let us also honor the memories of Sheldon Berman and Janice Hawkins.
The Race for Hope - DC presented by Cassidy Turley raises funds to support innovative research initiatives and support services for brain tumor patients and their families. This amazing event relies on the dedication and enthusiasm of individuals, families, teams, volunteers, sponsors and donors. Thank you for your support in helping us find a cure for brain tumors!
