Welcome to My Personal Page
There are several reasons why I will be walking, supporting and advocating for the National Brain Tumor Walk & Race for Hope-DC, on May 2, 2021.
My first reason to walk is for my youngest daughter who was diagnosed with a grad 3 anaplastic astrocytoma tumor five and a half years ago. At first, as a mom and grandma to her young children, I was devestated. Hard to think of anything else. I had to--had to be there, support her, have faith. Crissy has had radiation and two brain surgeries. We now live a "new normal" life, have faith and hope, yet know that any day the shoe could drop.
A cure must be found--this is why I support and advocate for NBTS. We have to find a way to change the diagnosis from a devestating diagnosis to a manageable diagnosis. We need to get more research, awareness, and money to make this happen. Brain cancer has not advanced in resolution like other diseases. This has to change, and thus, I wear my NBTS shirt and speak openly about the disease. Crissy and I went to Washington, DC for Head to the Hill in 2019 to speak to our government asking for money and research. We met so many wonderful people of all ages, backgrounds and means with one common goal and wish--to find a cure.
I walk, talk and donate to find a cure. I look forward to the day that my family and so many others can go to bed at night without the worry in our hearts and minds.
