Welcome to My Personal Page
A few days before Christmas in 2011, I ended up in the ER where I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. It took almost a month before I found out that my tumor was a benign meningioma. I was very fortunate to have the tumor attached to my skull in a location that was very easy to remove. On February 20th, 2012, I had the tumor and a section of my skull removed at Duke Raleigh Hospital. The surgery was very successful and I was able to make a full recovery with few lasting effects.
In the spring of 2017 (during my first semester of grad school) I got even crazier news-I had another brain tumor, this one on my pituitary gland. Thankfully this one is also very treatable and I’ve been taking medication to treat it since. I was able to finish my grad program on time and I am feeling great.
I am very excited to support the research of these great organizations and those who are currently fighting tumors that are more difficult to treat than mine have been.
The Race for Hope - DC presented by Cushman & Wakefield raises funds to support innovative research initiatives and provide information for brain tumor patients and their families. This amazing event relies on the dedication and enthusiasm of individuals, families, teams, volunteers, sponsors and donors. Thank you for your support in helping us find a cure for brain tumors!
