Welcome to My Personal Page
I am uniting with my dear friend Katie McKay to make a difference in the fight against brain tumors. I registered to participate in the 21st Annual Race for Hope - DC to run with the Team "Kevin Strong". I’d like to invite you to fight alongside me by joining my team to run, walk, or donate in support of this event!
Message from Katie:
On Friday July 15th 2016 my husband suffered a seizure while in route to our annual family vacation in Myrtle Beach South Carolina. Fortunately, I was driving at the time which is extremely abnormal - something we thank God for EVERYDAY as our 5 and 3 year olds were in tow in the back seats. We recieved an MRI at the Grand Strand ER in Myrtle Beach, SC that Friday and found out that my husband had a tumor located on the left frontal lobe of his brain.
Immediately upon returning home to Annapolis, MD we met with a local Neurosurgeon on Tuesday July 19th 2016 to review the images recieved in South Carolina. We were then referred to a Neurosurgeon and his team at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore that same Tuesday for a second opinion. After getting the same feedback from both surgeons as to the standard of care: surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, we opted to have our crainiotomy at Johns Hopkins on Tuesday August 2nd 2016 (within 2 weeks of diagnosis - AMAZING). Once we had surgery we were officially diagnosed with Anaplastic Astrocytoma which is a Grade III brain cancer.
Since then we've been through radiation & multiple rounds of chemotherapy. We are optimistic for the future and have many positive prognosticators for a more favorable outcome with respect to life expectancy. Sometimes life throws us curve balls, this was certainly one of them. We are grateful for your support and excited to have you as part of our team. Team KEVIN STRONG!
