Chris's Company joins Seas the Day!
This is the second year that I will be walking to help raise money for the National Brain Tumor Society. I have kept Chris' journey a secret but I need as much help as I can to raise money to help find a cure. My husband Chris is fighting Glioblastoma. This is a stage 4 cancer of the brain that is aggressive and terminal. Chris's tumor is in the left frontal lobe of the brain. We were given a 12-14 month diagnosis back in February of 2018 and he hit the 24 month mark on February 13, 2020!
Chris has been though three crainiotomies to take out as much of the tumor as they can. Glioblastoma doesn't grow like a normal ball or mass shaped tumor. It grows on the cellular level with what I call tentacles and they all can't be removed during a surgery. With each surgery, they can't ever tell us that they got it 100%. Chris has also been through 2 rounds of radiation and chemotherapy and an immuotherapy drug trial. We keep fighting different ways to attack the beast that is growing in his head.
Chris worked for a local hospital when this was diagnosed and hasn't been able to go back since. He is still very active and continues to go to air shows and out with friends. He is fighting this beast with all he has and I am so proud of him for the tenacity of his fight. Every time we are presented with another trial that might work, he says "why not....if it will help someone else, I am willing to do it!"
I am uniting with others to make a difference in the fight against brain tumors. I have a cousin, John, who is also fighting brain cancer. He and his wfie, Jen are team Seas the Day and I joined them last year to walk in John's honor. This year, we are joining efforts to make sure that we help raise as much money as we can to find a cure for this beast! I am so passionate about this cause, so I’m taking action and need your help. In addition to the donations that I am asking for here, I will be having a fundraiser at Texas Roadhouse in Hunt Valley before the walk. Dates are still TBD and information will be posted here once it is arranged.
National Brain Tumor Society is making strides for a cure - but more needs to be done. Please join in my effort!
Thank you so much in advance for all you are doing to help us in this fight!
