Brain Tumor Support Conversations

National Brain Tumor Society’s Brain Tumor Support Conversations program is an online support group facilitated by the brain tumor community, for the brain tumor community. Needed now more than ever, these monthly virtual chats offer a platform for honest, peer-to-peer support, and community engagement, bringing people together to share perspectives, support, and insights.

This group is hosted by a father of three living with glioblastoma (GBM), and a former care partner who lost her husband to GBM, and is attended by patients and care partners who have had firsthand experience with the challenges and effects of a brain tumor diagnosis. The conversations offer a welcoming space where anyone that’s been affected by a brain tumor can talk about the feelings and emotions that accompany any aspect of the brain tumor experience.

NBTS Personalized Support and Navigation Program

For years, NBTS offered our assistance to patients and caregivers who have reached out in need of information and/or other resources related to a brain tumor diagnosis and/or treatment. We are now formalizing our program in order to meet the increased demand from patients and caregivers. Staffed by an experienced medical professional with decades of experience helping brain tumor patients and their families, Mary Lovely, PhD, RN, CNRN, this service responds to outreach from brain tumor patients and caregivers and guides them to accessible, evidence-based information – including key tools, resources, and opportunities to make more informed decisions about their care. We hope this service will provide a new layer of support, care, and comfort for the brain tumor community, especially in light of how COVID-19 affects the accessibility of brain tumor care. While we have always been committed to serving the needs of our community, we understand that now – perhaps more than ever – this type of personalized support and navigation is critically needed.

To connect with Mary about questions, concerns, or other support or navigation needs, please email patientnavigator@braintumor.org.
