Lacy was placed in the care of Child Protective Services after her mother purposefully tried to burn their home down. At fourteen years old, Lacy had not only been exposed to domestic violence between her mother and her estranged father but witnessed regular drug use in the home and the effects of her mother’s untreated mental illness.
While in foster care, Lacy regularly attends therapy to address the trauma she has experienced as well as manage her anger and aggression resulting from a turbulent home life. But Lacy needs more.
She needs an advocate who will guide her through the child welfare system. She needs an advocate who will become a constant adult presence in her life - something she has yet to know.
Child Advocates provides advocates to children who are victims of abuse and neglect. Our more than 600 advocates represent the best interests of children in foster care while also searching for a safe, permanent home for them. So far this year, over 1440 children have benefitted from a dedicated advocate.
When you donate to the Heroes Society Annual Giving Fund, you are giving Child Advocates the resources to give more children in foster care an advocate. Thank you for generously supporting our mission.
