By the time Joseph* and Daisy* were eight and nine, they had suffered years of abuse by their mother and father. Daisy said her father would beat her while pointing a gun at her. Joe reported the same. When Child Protective Services removed the siblings from their abusive home, the children were found covered in bruises – both old and new.
They are now living in foster care, and their mother and father were both arrested. Their mother was convicted of injury to a child, and the father's criminal case is still ongoing.
Thankfully, Child Advocates was appointed to represent the children's best interests. Their advocate will work to find a permanent and safe home for both children while they heal – physically, emotionally and mentally – from the years of trauma they ensured.
Our more than 800 advocates represent the best interests of children in foster care while also searching for a safe, permanent home for them. So far this year, 1,735 children have benefited from a dedicated advocate.
When you donate to the Heroes Society Annual Giving Fund, you are giving Child Advocates the resources to give more children in foster care an advocate. Thank you for generously supporting our mission.
