For most, the end of the year is filled with many things – the busyness of the holidays, excitement for a new year and celebrations with friends and families.
This is not always the case for the more than 2,500 children across Harris County currently in the foster care system. And this is not the case for Tiffany.
At the age of five, Tiffany was brought to the hospital and found to have bruising and lacerations on her face. Upon further examination and x-rays, it was determined she had multiple facial fractures. When her mother was asked about her daughter’s injuries, she claimed to not know how Tiffany was so severely injured.
Child Protective Services received a referral as these injuries were consistent with physical abuse and neglect. Tiffany was placed in protective care immediately and Child Advocates was appointed to represent Tiffany’s best interests during a tumultuous time in her life.
Our more than 800 advocates represent the best interests of children in foster care while also searching for a safe, permanent home for them. So far this year, 1,735 children have benefited from a dedicated advocate.
When you donate to the Heroes Society Annual Giving Fund, you are giving Child Advocates the resources to give more children in foster care an advocate.
Thank you for generously supporting our mission and children in foster care during this holiday season.
