The impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic have left more women, girls and gender diverse people in danger of experiencing violence. Calls for police service related to domestic disturbances increased. Shelters and transition houses experienced an increase in crisis calls and demand for services. Tragically, more women and girls were killed by violence in 2020 than in 2019.
