The people of South Sudan need your help today. According to CBC News, famine has been officially declared in two areas of South Sudan by the South Sudan government and three different UN agencies, as “the result of prolonged civil war and an entrenched economic crisis that has devastated the war-torn East African nation. […] More than 100,000 people in two counties of Unity state are experiencing famine and there are fears that the famine will spread as an additional one million South Sudanese are on the brink of starvation.”
“CBM is urgently working to raise relief support for our response to the famine in South Sudan. South Sudan is starving. Exhausted women are carrying their children to our partner churches crying for help. Hundreds are arriving each day. Faith Evangelical Baptist Church (FEBAC) Pastors and their wives are embracing people as they walk into their camps giving them water and prayer, but they desperately need food. Please join us in praying for peace and an end to the fighting and suffering that has torn South Sudan apart,” shares Aaron & Erica Kenny, CBM Africa Team Leaders.
Please consider how you might contribute to this vital effort, and join us in praying for this situation.
