About CIBC Run for the Cure
The Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure is a 5k or 1k walk or run that raises funds for Canadian Cancer Society (CCS). It is the largest single-day, volunteer-led event in Canada in support of the breast cancer cause.

The CIBC Run for the Cure is organized and executed by staff and volunteers of the Canadian Cancer Society. The generous support of volunteers helps to keep costs down, which directs more money to Canadian Cancer Society to fund breast cancer research and health promotion initiatives.
No. The CIBC Run for the Cure prides itself on its broad accessibility. As a family oriented event, adults and children of all ages are invited to run or walk at their nearest Run location. We welcome those with mobility aides to connect with their Run site contact for more information on the route, terrain and any specific accessibility concerns you have. If running or walking isn't for you, you could walk your dog, go for a bike ride or do yoga on October 6 in your own community. You would still register as a participant, but would have the flexibility to do your own thing. Just choose My Run. Any time. Any way. as your Run location.
Yes, in order to participate in the CIBC Run for the Cure, you must register as an adult or youth participant. Find your nearest Run location and sign up today!
We encourage anyone who wants to participate in the CIBC Run for the Cure to register as a participant online or on Run day.
If you don’t fundraise a minimum of $150, you will be asked to donate the personal minimum donation of $45, which is tax receiptable.

The Canadian Cancer Society invests the funds raised into breast cancer research, support services, health education and advocacy programs. Over the past 20 years, CCS and the former CBCF have invested over $360 million in breast cancer research; funding more than 1,400 scientific and community grants. With the help of our donors, we hope to reduce the number of people diagnosed with breast cancer, reduce mortality for those who develop the disease, and improve the quality of life for those affected

The Canadian Cancer Society does not canvass door-to-door in conjunction with the CIBC Run for the Cure event and does not encourage or promote event volunteers or participants to solicit funds by canvassing door-to-door. CCS currently offers a paid door-to-door canvassing program in British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario, where we train fundraisers with the most up-to-date information about CCS in order to sign-up monthly donors using a secure payment platform. The CCS paid door-to-door canvassing program does not accept any cash and/or cheque donations at the door. Our door-to-door fundraising programs aim to secure long-term monthly donations that help fund cancer research and provide support nationwide. If we don’t have an official Run location in your community, you can still be part of the CIBC Run for the Cure by registering, fundraising, and running or walking in your own community on Sunday, October 6, 2019. Choose My Run. Anywhere. Any way as your Run location when registering.

Yes, you can register offline by downloading a participation form from your Run site page or, by requesting a participation form at your nearest CIBC branch (forms are available in July). Or, you can register on Run day.
Yes, you can. We encourage you to use the same username and password from the last time you participated in the CIBC Run for the Cure.
The Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) is continuing to make positive changes following our merger with the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and over the past six months, we have been working hard to consolidate our fundraising software to eliminate duplication so that we can redirect the funds we’re saving to our mission.
As a result of the consolidation, you might notice some changes to your online profile at cibcrunforthecure.com. If you had a profile in both systems your username has been updated to include “_1” at the end, which helps us to differentiate your new, Run account from your existing CCS account(s). This will not impact your password. Some participants may also need to re-upload their personal story to their fundraising page.

A fast and easy way to register a team is by registering online. Choose your Run location from our homepage drop down menu or by selecting "Find your Run" in the top navigation. Once you have selected your Run location, click on the Register button. From here you will be able to select the ‘Start a Team' option and proceed with the registration process.

Another option is to contact the team captain who can register you on the team.
No. You can have as many or as few members as you would like to form a team. However, teams with fewer than 10 members will not receive t-shirts with your team’s name on the back. Instead they will receive regular event t-shirts.
Yes! Teams can register at anytime including on the day of the CIBC Run for the Cure. However, in order to receive team t-shirts, you will need to register your team of 10 or more by Thursday, September 19, 2019 to allow the Canadian Cancer Society enough time to print your team’s name on the back of the t-shirts.
Teams who register after September 19, 2019 will receive the regular event t-shirts.
Yes, anyone participating offline will qualify for team incentives provided they supply completed forms and have met one of the requirements of participation:

Multi-site teams are teams that are registered in two (2) or more locations. Multi-site teams must also register in one of the five categories (Corporate, Friends and Family, School, Women’s, or Post-Secondary Challenge).
AAll multi-site teams are eligible for team t-shirts if they meet all of the criteria below:
- Local teams must consist of least 10 (ten) members
Individual team members must have met one of the requirements of participation:
- Made a minimum personal donation of $45 (Early bird registration deadlines: June 30 and August 31)
- Fundraised a minimum of $150 towards their personal fundraising goal
Yes, any contribution made to the CIBC Run for the Cure is tax receiptable.
If a donor mistakenly donates to your team and would like to transfer the donation to an individual participant, the donor must contact our Donor Care department by October 31, 2019. After the October 31 date, team donations are non-transferable as the fundraising component of this program has closed.
CIBC RUN FOR THE CURE DONOR CARE

There are several documents you can use as proof of registration:

T-shirts can be collected at designated pick-up locations prior to the CIBC Run for the Cure or, on Run day. You will need your participation and any donation forms, stamped by CIBC, at the time of pick-up. If you registered online you only need to present your proof of participation email confirmation.
If you are part of a team, your Team Captain will pick up your t-shirts prior to the event and distribute them to all team members.
Pick-up locations will be posted on your Run site page under the CIBC Run for the Cure t-shirt pick-up in August.
Your Fundraising Centre contains customizable tools for emailing friends and family, tracking online donations, team status, and much, much more.
It is an online webpage that highlights an individual participant and their fundraising efforts. Participants are able to customize content and images on their Personal Fundraising page from the Fundraising Centre

For all returning participants, you may notice the personal story section of your profile on cibcrunforthecure.com has been replaced with default text. This is a result of the consolidation and you will need to manually update your personal story if you choose to.
Yes. If you registered as a Returning Participant with your previous username, all of your donor information will be available under the email contact section of your Fundraising Centre.
If you are manually entering email addresses to your contact list, please do not separate the addresses using a colon (;). Kindly use a comma (,) to separate the addresses.

If your friends and family are not receiving emails sent from your Fundraising Centre, it's because they’ve opted out of receiving emails from the Canadian Cancer Society or the CIBC Run for the Cure.
No. Your privacy is important to CCS and therefore staff and volunteers cannot view or access your online information. Your information is confidential and is only accessible by entering your personal username and password, to which CCS does not have access.
If you have registered online, we encourage you to download the pre-populated donation forms with your personal information from your Fundraising Centre.
If you’ve registered offline, you can download blank donation forms from your Run site page
Cash and cheque donations must be deposited at any CIBC banking centre and you must have your donation form stamped. DO NOT leave your form(s) at the CIBC branch, and please make copies of your forms for your records.

If you did not take your cash or cheque donations to the bank, please bring the donations and forms with you on Run day.

Credit card donations can be processed online or by calling Donor Care at 1-888-939-3333. Please ensure that you are registered online before calling Donor Care to process a credit card donation.
No, CIBC does not process credit card donations.
In-person/offline donations (donations not paid online) will be officially counted as part of your fundraising when they are received by the Canadian Cancer Society. You can submit your in-person donations 2 ways:
Bring them to any CIBC branch. The money will be deposited into the account listed on your donation form and CIBC will stamp and return your form(s). You can submit your bank stamped forms on Run day for data entry, tax receipting, and Fundraising Rewards redemption purposes.
DO NOT leave your forms at the CIBC branch, and please make copies of your forms for your records.
- Mail your donations - (cheques are fine, but do not send cash in the mail). The mailing address is:

Online donations will be reflected automatically once a donation is made and completed.
Offline donations will be entered weekly starting the second week of October. Offline donations made through CIBC branch locations are processed once the bank stamped donation forms are received by the Canadian Cancer Society. Therefore, you must retain your forms from CIBC and submit it on Run or, mail it to Society:

Due to the number of participants partaking in the CIBC Run for the Cure across the country, this process could take until the end of January 2020 to process, depending on when your forms were submitted.
Absolutely. Donate online or at any CIBC branch across Canada. To make a donation at CIBC, record your name, address, and donation amount on a donation form. CIBC will accept your donation and a teller will stamp the form and return it to you (note: CIBC does not accept donations by credit card). To get a tax receipt, mail the stamped donation form to:

Follow the following six easy steps:
- Find the “CIBC Run for the Cure” project. You can find this under the ‘projects’ listing on the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) cause page or by using your search bar.
- Select “donate now”, then enter the donation amount and frequency (one-time or recurring donation). If you are supporting a Run participant’s personal fundraising it is recommended that you make a one-time donation to ensure reporting accuracy.
- Select the amount of information that you would like to share with CCS. Note- if you do not share this information your donation will remain anonymous.
- IMPORTANT — Select “Leave a comment” and include the participant’s name and the “Run” location they are attending. Note this is the most important part of your donation. If you do not leave a comment with this information, it will not be designated to the specific participant’s fundraising page. If donating to your personal fundraising page, you must enter your own name and “Run” location.
- Select your payment method and confirm your donation.
- Review and submit your donation.
All participants in the CIBC Run for the Cure who individually raise $300 or more are eligible for the Fundraising Rewards program. See the Fundraising Rewards program for details on the levels and prizes.
We asked participants at registration if they wanted to receive the reward based on achieving the goal of $300, $1000 and $2500. This was a mandatory question. We will use the information from the registration completion to send out the rewards. All offline participants will receive rewards they qualify for.
Participants who raise at least $300 are required to have all fundraising dollars and forms received by Canadian Cancer Society by October 6, 2019 in order to qualify for the Fundraising Rewards program.
No. The Fundraising Reward level reached individually cannot be transferred to another participant.
No. Team fundraising totals are NOT eligible for Fundraising Rewards, and they do not count towards an individual’s fundraising total.
All donations for rewards must be submitted by midnight October 6, 2019.

Depending on the location, it will take 3-6 weeks for delivery from the time the Fulfillment Centre receives the notification that a participant qualifies for a reward.

If you donate online to a team, to yourself or another participant you will receive an electronic tax receipt within 24hrs. The Canadian Cancer Society will begin issuing tax receipts for offline donations following the CIBC Run for the Cure. They will be distributed no later than February 28, of the calendar year that follows the year of the donation. /p>
No, you do not require previous volunteer experience. However, it is recommended that people in Leadership roles do have previous CIBC Run for the Cure volunteer experience.
Each volunteer role has different time requirements in terms of shift lengths, training, and tasks being performed. Most shifts are 4 hours in length and take place on the day of the event. When you view a position description you will be able to see the length of the shift. Committee roles have a longer time commitment and it can vary. This will be described in the role description.
We encourage you to bring your friends!
All friends or group members must complete individual volunteer applications. If you want to volunteer side by side, simply sign up for the same position during the same shift time (provided multiple positions are available). Although we cannot guarantee that you will be matched with your friend or group, we can certainly try our best.

Yes, of course! After the event, you will be able to download a statement outlining your volunteer hours through the website.

- Click on the Reports Tab
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page to the Hours and Results Report or Detailed Hours Report section
- Change the date range to include the time frame you need
- Click View Report to see the report or “Export Report” to create a PDF version you can save and/or print

Volunteer coordinators will also sign any necessary forms onsite upon completion of the shift.
Volunteers must be 14 years and older in order to volunteer for the Canadian Cancer Society , unless accompanied by a parent. There are some positions with further age restrictions (18 or over) and this will be made clear in the position description. If you are under the age of 18 please obtain parental or legal guardian consent before completing the online application. Your parent or guardian must be present to electronically consent to the terms and conditions.
