IS THE WALK STILL HAPPENING?
Yes! Our number one priority for The Walk for Childhood Cancer Research is to make it a safe, fun family event for the childhood cancer community. Because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve decided to shift The Walk to a virtual event. We’re starting to explore what this virtual event will look like, and we expect to have the exciting details to share with you soon! In the meantime, we encourage you to register early so you can start fundraising, making real progress for kids with cancer and earning fundraising prizes sooner!
WHAT IS THE WALK FOR CHILDHOOD CANCER RESEARCH?
The Walk for Childhood Cancer Research is Children’s Cancer Research Fund’s annual fundraising walk. Each year, The Walk aims to raise critical dollars for childhood cancer research, while providing an opportunity to gather, share and connect with others who are affected by childhood cancer.
WHY WAS THE EVENT RENAMED?
Over the past few years we’ve been making changes to our walk event, Time To Fly, to better serve childhood cancer families. We’ve now also changed the name to The Walk for Childhood Cancer Research, so that our purpose is more clear showing support and raising funds for research that will yield better, safer treatments for kids fighting cancer.

DO I NEED TO REGISTER FOR THE WALK?
Yes! Please register for The Walk for Childhood Cancer Research so you receive updates about what activities are available, as well as fundraising tips and tricks.
And good news all registrations are FREE this year until August 19!
DO I NEED TO HAVE A TEAM TO PARTICIPATE?
Participants are welcome to create their own team, join an existing team or register as an individual.
HOW DO I REGISTER?
Visit the home page of The Walk for Childhood Cancer Research and click the register button. You can choose to join a team, create your own team, or participate as an individual.
CAN I REGISTER MY FRIEND / FAMILY MEMBER / TEAM MEMBER / ETC.?
For liability reasons, The Walk for Childhood Cancer Research participants may only register and sign the electronic waiver for themselves and children under the age of 18 of whom they are the legal parent or guardian.

WHY IS FUNDRAISING IMPORTANT?
While research has helped increase the overall childhood cancer survival rate to 80%, 38 kids still pass away in the U.S. every week. Only 4% of federal cancer research funding is earmarked for childhood cancer research. Children’s Cancer Research Fund helps fill the gap through fundraising so that innovative treatments and trials can get from bench to bedside more quickly.
CAN I SHARE A FUNDRAISING PAGE WITH SOMEONE ELSE?
Each participant should create and manage donations through their own, individual fundraising page. This will help you track and thank your donors and make it easier for our team to see where donations are coming from. It also allows fundraisers to earn awesome prizes as they raise money!
I NEED HELP FUNDRAISING.
Fundraising for a cause - especially one you’re passionate about - is a lot easier than most people think!
Often the fear of asking can be the hardest part to overcome, and many people find that once you start asking, the support you’ll receive from your network will surprise you.
The Fundraising Tools page is a fantastic resource for both new and veteran fundraisers, with tips, ideas and downloadable tools to help make fundraising easy and fun. We would also love to hear from you directly and offer one-on-one coaching to support you in reaching your goals.
IS THERE A FUNDRAISING MINIMUM FOR PARTICIPATING?
We encourage participants to set high goals for their personal and team fundraising to make the biggest impact towards our mission to end childhood cancer. There is no minimum amount you have to fundraise in order to be a part of our team. You do, however, have the chance to earn exclusive thank-you gifts as you hit various fundraising milestones!
WHAT IF SOMEONE GIVES ME A CASH/CHECK DONATION?
Any kind of transaction that is not handled virtually online through the The Walk for Childhood Cancer Research website or app is considered an “offline donation.” Please follow these steps to ensure your donation is recorded correctly:
- Visit your fundraising page and click the offline donation form, fill it out, and attach it with your donation. This helps our donor services staff credit this donation to your fundraiser.
- Mail or drop off the donation and form to:

Please allow at least one week for CCRF to process the donation, at which time you should see it appear in your fundraising dashboard on the The Walk for Childhood Cancer Research website and app.

HOW DO I DONATE TO AN INDIVIDUAL?
Search by team or individual by clicking “Donate” and “Find a team/individual.” Search for the person you would like to donate to and you will be taken to their personal fundraising page. Click “Donate” and follow the prompts to enter your payment information.
WHY CAN’T I DONATE TO A TEAM?
Because fundraising gives participants the chance to earn fun recognition gifts like The Walk for Childhood Cancer Research gear, all donations must go to an individual, rather than a team. This helps us track when participants reach fundraising milestones and earn their thank-you gifts. Please click on an individual team member to donate.
WILL I RECEIVE A RECEIPT FOR MY DONATION?
You should receive an automatic response to the e-mail you entered when making your donation, confirming your transaction.
IS MY DONATION TAX DEDUCTIBLE?
Yes all donations are 100% tax deductible. Please keep your receipt for your records and consult your tax advisor for further details.
CAN I EARN RECOGNITION GIFTS BY DONATING?
Only the participant to whom the donation is given will receive credit towards their fundraising goals and fundraising recognition gifts. If you would like the chance to achieve these milestones for yourself, please register for The Walk for Childhood Cancer Research and create your own fundraising page registration is free until August 19!

WHERE DO THE DONATIONS GO?
Children’s Cancer Research Fund works closely with researchers to fund groundbreaking projects quickly and ensure that promising discoveries continue uninterrupted. The experts we fund share their findings with more than 9,000 experts that are a part of Children’s Oncology Group throughout the world.

CAN MY DONATION REALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
Yes! Every $1 donated to Children’s Cancer Research Fund helps researchers secure an average of $18 in funding from the government and other sources. In addition, CCRF helps jump-start new research projects and fuel the preclinical studies that are required before a new treatment can be used with patients.
