My name is Ella Cockburn and I'm from Dundas, Ontario. This is my second year in Junior Civitan and first year on the district board. In a short amount of time, Civitan has had a huge impact on me. Last summer I was sponsored to attend a week long leadership and diversity camp and grew so much from it. The people I've met and places I've been through this club is the reason I'm still involved and will continue to be for a long time.
kicked off my fundraising journey by raising money at the Dinner in the Dark district event on March 30th. I'm very passionate about improving the lives of those with intellectual and developmental disabilities, which is why I want to raise as much as I can for the Civitan International Research Centre. Every Saturday I volunteer at a special Olympics bowling league as a score keeper. I also take part on best buddies at school. Through these experiences I've gotten an upclose view of how competent and talented people with disabilities can be and it makes me sad that people don't see that.
On June 20, I will be going to Washington D.C to take part in a Dance-A-Thon along with other members of my district and PRC's from around the world. Please donate to help me reach my goal and help with the research and innovation done at the CIRC!
