Jeshua Espiritu: All About Me!
Hello, everyone! I'm Jeshua Espiritu, and I am the 2022-23 co-director of Region 2 District, based in southeastern U.S. with South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. At Sumter High School, apart from being a proud member of Jr Civitan, I am enrolled in the International Baccalaurette program, National Honor Society, the Sumter High marching band, and the varsity tennis team (go Gamecocks!). In my free time, I enjoy playing my saxophone and playing video games.
I joined my Jr Civitan club during the pandemic, during Fall of 2020. I had not even realized I had missed applying for the club because no one had told me about it; it was only a month or two after the school year began that I realized that it even existed. Fortunately, my advisor was kind enough to let me in. I had no idea what Jr. Civitan was all about, only that it was some sort of service organization. Yet, it was more than just that. I learned that our club was not merely here to help the community— it was here to build a family. From taking food to our local homeless shelter, to preparing the local Sumter County museum, to cleaning up our local Dillon Park, I came to understand that Jr. Civitan was truly here not only to make our world a better place, but to make our world a family. Service is directly tied to love and compassion, and that is what I have always strived to internalize as I involve myself in my community. Now, as co-director, I want to continue to strengthen our love and compassion for others. All the funds I am raising go toward the Civitan International Research Center, dedicated in researching and treating intellectual and developmental disabilities and brain disorders. Your help also gives me the opportunity to take a trip to the Research Center and immerse myself in their work. Please support me in fulfilling my goal to raise money for a great cause! Thank you so much in advance. :)
