Welcome to Josulyn's page!
Hello my name is Josulyn Salsbury and I am the Junior Civitan District Governor for the Heartland district. The Heartland district is only one of 20 districts in the United States and we have hundreds of individual clubs in those 20 districts. The Junior Civitan clubs have made strides donating money to the International Civitan Research Center to research brain disorders such as Rett syndrome, cerebral palsy, autism, and Alzheimer’s. A couple of things my club likes to do every year is to volunteer for the Special Olympics, clean up Civitan park, and make a wreath for the Festival of Trees, a benefit for Sheltered Living, Inc. We do these things to raise money to benefit the disability community. As I said earlier, we work very closely with the international Civitan club and we donate money every year to help support continued research in intellectual disabilities. Today, I’m raising money so that I can attend the All In Summit in Birmingham, Alabama in 2021 to increase my understanding of all the wonderful things they do at the International Civitan Research Center so that I can use this knowledge to ultimately improve the lives of those with disabilities. One reason I’m passionate about improving research in the field of disability is because I have personal experience with a rare disability and one of my favorite people has an intellectual disability and I would love to see her thrive in life.
