Hello Friends,

My name is Brooke Porter. I am a senior at Cleveland Early College High School in Shelby, North Carolina. I've been apart of Junior Civitan for 4 years now. During my time as a Junior Civitan, I've served as International Vice President, Regional Co-Director, District Public Relations Coordinator, District Lieutenant Governor, District Governor, Club Ninth Grade Director, Club Vice President, and Club President. I currenly serve as International Director and Region 3 Director. I've also won 3rd Place Internationally for Club of the Year, Junior Civitan of the Year twice, Community Project of the Year and 2 International Honor Keys. 

I'm raising money for the Civitan International Research Center (CIRC). I also have to raise a certain amount of money to attend an event we host called All-In Summit. This event allows all the Junior Civitans across the world to meet in Alabama for a weekend of leadership, service and fun! During our stay in Alabama, we get to visit the CIRC - where we get to hold a brain - participate in service projects, attend meetings and more! It's a life changing event that not only helped me grow as a Junior Civitan, but it also inspired me to become a neurologist!

Junior Civitan means a lot to me. I am so passionate about service that over the past 4 years I've gotten over 1,000 service hours. I have been a very active member in all levels of Junior Civitan. My club lost our advisor last year. I was already elected President, so I ran the club on my own until a new advisor was appointed. The two advisors didn't know what Junior Civitan was, so from my experience I taught and showed them the ropes. I'm very thankful for their willingness to advise our school club.
