Annabelle Williamson: All-In Summit 2023!
Hi! I'm Annabelle Williamson, Region 2 Board Member. I'm a junior at Sumter High School in Sumter, South Carolina. I've also been in Junior Civitans since my freshman year. Outside of Junior Civitans, I play both piano and cello, and spend a lot of my time reading and writing.
I'm raising money for the CIRC (Civitan International Research Center). It's a research center in Birmingham, Alabama that focuses on research on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. The CIRC makes a huge difference for so many people every day, not only furthering our understanding of these disabilities, but also treating them as well.
I had the amazing opportunity last year to go to Birmingham, Alabama to tour the CIRC, and it was honestly one of the best trips I've ever been on. I learned so much about things I'd never even considered. For example, how kids with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) tend to play with shapes and textures instead of in more imaginative ways. This was not only super awesome to learn about, but also helped me gain a lot of understanding of myself and the ways I used to and still do behave, as I am diagnosed with ASD. I would be absolutely ectatic to go back again this year to see what progress has been made since then.
If you are kind enough to support me and this fundraiser, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Every penny counts! If you are unable to donate, it is still immensely appreciated if you spread the word by sending this fundraiser to anyone you may know. Thank you for reading and spending time on my page! :)
