Victory: Governor Brown signs AB 1461 to improve access to voter registration!
Voting is critical. It's how California citizens make important decisions on ballot measures that could protect and harm our environment, and how we choose who represents us locally, in Sacramento, and in Washington, DC.Right now, the stakes are higher than ever. While the state's biggest polluters spend millions on lobbying and elections, Californians are feeling the effects of climate change, the drought, and uneven access to clean air and water—and yet, voting in California is on a severe decline. We're fighting for legislation (AB 1461) to automatically register to vote eligible voters who obtain or update a driver's license, and we need your help to make sure the bill passes. Expanding involvement in our democracy is crucial for basic fairness and because it's the most effective way to fight back against powerful special interests.Update: Governor Jerry Brown signed AB 1461 into law on October 10, 2015.
