Tell Governor Brown: Support healthy communities!
Too often it is our most vulnerable communities that feel the greatest impact of polluted air and water. But together we can do something to change that.SB 1000 will require counties consider Environmental Justice in developing their General Plans, ensuring that local governments proactively plan for and address environmental justice when developing their long-term goals, policies, and vision for land use and growth.By requiring environmental justice be accounted for in long-term planning, SB 1000 will reduce the disproportionate environmental and health impacts on California's most vulnerable residents, and will help cities to reduce pollution exposure, promote better food access, healthier homes, improved air quality, and physical activity. This is common sense legislation that will have an impact far beyond its cost for those most at risk. It will ensure historically disadvantaged communities no longer bear the burden of poor land use decisions and historic patterns of disinvestment. Please join CLCV and CEJA in supporting this important legislation today.Urge the Governor to support healthier communities and sign SB 1000 today!

Please sign SB 1000 -- Planning for Healthy Communities
Dear Governor Brown,
I'm writing today to urge you to sign SB 1000 into law.Far too often the health impacts caused by polluted land, water, and air are more strongly felt by the most vulnerable communities in California.Fortunately, Senate Bill 1000 will help mitigate the most severe of these impacts by requiring the development of an Environmental Justice element for future General Plans. The bill will ensure that local governments proactively plan for and address environmental justice when developing their long term goals and vision for land use and future growth.
