Solar power offers opportunities for good, local jobs, for rural development, for economic savings, for energy independency, and for cost-effective power. As the federal government rolls back smart energy policies, it’s time for us to push for this clean, low-cost resource.
Both the Maine House and the Maine Senate voted in favor of good solar policy. This bill (LD 1444) would take a step in the right direction by stopping utilities from charging those with solar panels for the electricity that they produce and use themselves.
But Governor LePage is staunchly anti-solar, and has vetoed the bill. Use the form below to tell your state legislators to override his veto. We want to see our state move forward with smart, local energy, and we can’t let Governor LePage or self-interested electric utilities stand in our way.
