Arizonans have the right to take action when the Legislature won’t, through the ballot initiative process. But that right is under attack, and we must push back. Please call your state senator today:

The ballot initiative process is an important tool for Arizona voters -- campaign finance reform, clean elections, and independent redistricting became law in Arizona because of the initiative process.

But now, Arizona’s most powerful corporate interests are pushing legislation that would make it more difficult—and expensive—to propose ballot measures.  This is not a partisan issue: both progressives and conservatives have relied on ballot measures when the Legislature wouldn’t act.

The Arizona Senate could vote as soon as this afternoon.  Please call your state senator and ask them to vote no on HB 2404.

  • Please vote no on HB2404.  This bill is an attack on Arizonans’ constitutional right to make policy via ballot initiative.
  • Ballot measures are an important way for the voters to hold our leaders accountable and advance reform when the politicians won’t.
  • Reform issues, like clean elections and independent redistricting, were adopted in Arizona because of the ballot measure process.
  • HB 2404 would make it more expensive than it already is to gather the signatures needed to place a measure on the ballot, so only the wealthiest interest groups can afford to propose ballot measures.
