Tell the Senate: Do your job!

This is absurd. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is promising to block the President from appointing any new justices to the Supreme Court until after the election, claiming “this vacancy should not be filled until we have a new president.”

Whether Senator McConnell likes it or not, Barack Obama is the president of the United States. And any senator pledging ahead of time to refuse the President’s nominee a fair hearing or an up-or-down vote -- regardless of their qualifications -- is neglecting their constitutional obligations.

The American people deserve a Supreme Court that's functional and fully-staffed -- not long-term vacancies borne of partisan gridlock.
