Senator Portman has said, "the Senate does have a solemn responsibility and that’s the confirmation of judges."
So why hasn't he advocated to hold a fair hearing and vote for Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland?
It is time for the Senate to #DoYourJob and hold hearings and a vote on Judge Garland's nomination. It has been six months since President Obama nominated Merrick Garland to the U.S. Supreme Court. There is no reason to wait until after the election.
Together we can hold Senator Portman accountable. He works for us. The average time between a justice's departure and their successor being sworn in is only 73 days, and yet in the past 6 months Merrick Garland hasn't had a single hearing.
Tell Senator Rob Portman to do his job and give President Obama’s nominee a fair hearing.
