Volunteer with Common Cause Maryland

In the office:

  • Help with data entry and other organizational house keeping

  • During legislative session (January through April), monitor hearings, help with bill tracking, and prepare and deliver testimony. Weekly lit drops walking information to all House and Senate offices.

  • Prepare for periodic events, including calling volunteers, assisting with event logistics, and calling reporters.

In your community:

  • Host a house party. Invite your friends and neighbors to learn more about Common Cause Maryland and the reforms we are working on.

  • Organize a ‘citizen advocate’ training. Work with local organizations to fill a room and CCMD staff will come train everyone on how to lobby and how to win policy reforms.

  • Have a specific skill – like graphic design, writing, legal – let us know. We need help with key projects.

  • Share us on social media – facebook, twitter, podcasts. Have an issue you’d like us to report on? Let us know!

Be an advocate:

  • Issue ambassador: We have campaigns at the state and local levels and would love to engage you more deeply – attending meetings, sharing news and helping with research, drafting testimony and social media, etc.

  • CCMD ambassador: get engaged locally on various issues. Help us monitor what is happening in your county. Promote CCMD to your neighbors, on social, etc. Host house parties. Periodic briefing calls with staff.

  • Student advocate
