Our automatic voter
registration bill was just introduced in the Massachusetts House and
Senate last week and we need to get as many legislative cosponsors as
possible. If passed, every eligible citizen who goes to the DMV and
certain other state agencies would be automatically registered to vote, unless
they say no.
Almost 15% of eligible citizens in Massachusetts are unregistered to
vote. That’s nearly 700,000 people (which is like all of Boston, or 4
times Springfield, or 20 times Braintree!) being unable to vote!
This is unacceptable. Luckily, the solution is here - Automatic Voter Registration.
Tell your legislator it’s time to strengthen voting rights with automatic voter registration and ask them to cosponsor the bill!
If you take action and have not already registered, you will receive periodic updates and communications from Common Cause.
