Currently, Marylanders can register to vote or update their registrations during the early voting period using same day registration (SDR), but they cannot do so on Election Day. This disparity is unnecessary and leads to thousands of Marylanders’ voices going unheard during our elections.Nearly 20,000 Marylanders used Same-Day Registration during the early voting period to register to vote for the first time or update their registration in 2016. Election-Day Registration will expand upon those gains, while improving the ease of administering our elections.SB 423 has moved in the Senate but is stalled in the House. Please contact your Delegates TODAY and urge them to support SB 423 without amendments to establish Election Day Registration in Maryland!
If you take action and have not already registered, you will receive periodic updates and communications from Common Cause.
Please support Election Day Voter Registration (SB 423/HB 345)
