Ivanka Trump & Jared Kushner must divest, or recuse

Ethics watchdogs are crying foul that President Trump’s daughter Ivanka, and her husband Jared Kushner have formally joined the Trump administration without following longstanding precedent for senior federal employees and putting their assets into a blind trust

Instead, both have kept their significant portfolios of real estate, bank obligations and other investments. Now, they’re in a position to influence decisions that could affect the value of their assets. That’s an absolutely intolerable conflict of interest, and it can’t go unchallenged.

So far, President Trump has evaded accountability for his massive conflicts of interest because most federal ethics laws don’t officially apply to the President (although Presidents before him have complied anyway.)

But as ordinary federal employees, the rules apply to Ivanka Trump & Jared Kushner just like they do everyone else. That means they must either address their massive potential conflicts by divesting their assets, recuse themselves from working on huge swaths of the Administration's agenda, or face prosecution for violating our federal conflicts of interest law.

We can’t let the Trump Administration’s culture of ethical impunity continue. We need to speak out and hold Ivanka Trump & Jared Kushner accountable for their massive conflicts of interests and demand that they prove they’re only working in the public interest.

PETITION: We deserve public servants who serve ONLY the public -- and we can’t trust government officials’ decisions if their private wealth is involved. As formal members of the Trump administration, Ivanka Trump & her husband Jared Kushner are subject to the same conflict rules as everyone else -- they must either divest their assets and set up a blind trust, or recuse themselves from huge areas of the administration's’ agenda.
